Behavioral Health
Case Management:
At program entry, all residents will be assigned a case manager to help them develop an individualized service plan. This case manager will connect residents to all available public benefits, encourage them to engage in a variety of appropriate empowerment services, to help the resident plan for graduation from the program to transition to independent living, and will check in regularly with the resident to adjust the plan as needed. This service will be offered to all residents, and services will be provided on site. Case Management will enable residents to maximize their recovery and help them establish the skills and patterns that will facilitate the success of their long-term economic self-sufficiency.
Mental Health Evaluation/Treatment:
All residents are provided with a mental health exam upon entry, and additional care is recommended based on this exam. Based upon a resident’s initial evaluation, additional care may be provided by program staff (such as medication-assisted substance abuse treatment) or, in some cases, may require a referral to another more specialized provider (in which case program staff will help the resident coordinate the additional service). At Hightower Behavioral Health, psychiatric evaluation and medication management services are aimed at determining the use of medications to assist in managing mental illnesses in addition to therapeutic modalities and monitoring the effectiveness of the medication over the course of treatment. Hightower Behavioral Health specializes in mental health and this service will be offered to all residents, and services will be provided on site. Addressing crisis or ongoing health issues in a supportive environment will reduce a resident’s stress and improve their health so they are better able to focus on any necessary treatment or services in order to maximize their ability to live independently and increase their economic self-sufficiency.
Community Integration:
The Community Integration program (frequently referred to as “life skills”) is designed to help residents improve their personal, social, and vocational skills in order to live more successfully in the community. Activities are determined based on the needs of the individual resident, therefore services could be either on- or off-site. Through a variety of programming residents can participate in communication activities, spiritual activities, cultural activities, vocational pursuits, employment skills training and activities, independent living skills, and health and wellness activities.
Crisis Intervention: Hightower Behavioral Health’s crisis services provide a response to those residents experiencing a crisis due to mental and/or emotional disturbances. Its team of behavioral health professionals are available 24/7 to safely stabilize the person at home, work, school, or wherever in the community the crisis occurs. Crisis services are aimed at the assessment and stabilization of symptoms related to mental illness, emotional distress, alcoholism, drug abuse, or in response to domestic violence and abuse/neglect.
